Sewtastic!

I felt inspired today so when the kids went down for a nap, I busted out my new sewing machine! I had taken it out of is box once before and stared at it, but it found it's way back into the box when we had use our office for guests. And there it has sat ever since.

I have a list of things I wanted to sew when I got a sewing machine hanging on the bulletin board in my pantry. Funny that I've had the machine for almost 2 months and haven't sewn a thing. Until today that is!

I decided that I am going to make Ava's Easter dress this year. I thought that would be a nice project with a clear deadline. So today I planned to wind a bobbin or two and test her out. I got everything set up and then really really really just wanted to make something right that minute.

I didn't have much in the way of anything, but I found a few scraps of fabric. And I am not ashamed to say that I am proud of my creation!

Everything was going awesome, I was thinking how smooth the machine ran and enjoying the bum-bum-bum-bum of the the card table as it hopped up and down. And aside from one episode where the bobbin got all jacked up, things went quickly and smoothly. (I am just praying that whatever it was that got all messed up will NEVER come back!)

One of the items on my list was headbands. Ava had a thing (that she's mostly over now) a while back about her hair in her face. She'd go bananas in a parking lot when the wind would blow it in her face. On one of those days I decided I was going to make her a headband. I sewed one by hand, and she liked it and it worked like a charm, but it took way too long to make for such a simple thing.

As I contemplated what to try to make this afternoon, I decided a headband would be an easy thing to tackle. Since Ava was asleep, I made it my size cause I could measure my own head. When I got Ava up from her nap, she exclaimed how pretty she thought it was and that she wanted one, a purple one. So, hooray! Now I have a client!

I love making stuff. It's not professional or even close, but I just love thinking of something in my mind and then trying to make it 3 dimensional.

I love the headband. I love the machine. Funny when you don't have one you think of all these things you could whip up in just a minute if you did have one. Then you get one and you can't think of or don't have time to sew. I have mine out for it's third run since I got it. I would tell you what I was making but it's a secret for Kieran's birthday.Love Ya

I have a sister-in-law like that who sees something and she wants to make it, and make it NOW. Things usually turn out great, I love the headband!
