Not Your Average Joe

Tonight I looked out the window and saw Dan with the kids on the trampoline. It has been so hot here lately that it hasn't been used as much as it used to. But tonight, right before bed, Dan took them all out to play.

I walked past the window just in time to see Dan turn his eyelids inside out, put his hands up near his face, bear his teeth, stick out his tongue, and chase after the kids. I could hear their shrieks and screams of delight all the way in the kitchen.

Then I remembered this little entry I saw in Ava's journal from Kindergarten.



Let me translate for you, in case you are not fluent in Kindergartenese:

I like to play with my Dad.


I love that that is the answer to the question, What is your favorite thing to do?


I went back to the window after I took this picture and watched some more. Dan sure looked silly, but I dare say, he's never looked better.
