Today, while running errands I was accosted by two men who were politically charged. I hate politics. Hate them. And while I know that my lack of involvement doesn't leave room for me to really complain, that is fine by me. These guys were out to rally to impeach a certain Vice President. I was walking back to my car, carseat in one hand, holding Ava's hand with the other. They told me, "We're looking out for your little one-Do you have a second to talk?" "No", I said. And I really didn't. Then he said, "Yes you do. Listen, it's fun to be a mom, but you need to get the whole picture."
Excuse me? I almost dropped the carseat on the sidewalk and gave him the what for. This angered me so much. Fun? Yeah, it can be super fun. But that's not exactly how I have been feeling about motherhood for the past two weeks. Whatever. The part that got to me was the "whole picture" part. Like I'm some silly moron who eats Bon Bons and watches Dora all day. I wanted to tell him that it was because I had the whole picture that I was even bothering with this mom business. I'm all for people with ideas and convictions to go out and do something about them, even if I don't. And it wasn't about democrat or republican. It was just so patronizing. And it made me mad.
But my trip to College Station to see Tiffany yesterday made me happy. A visit with a friend can do that to you.
When I woke Ava up and told her we were going to Corbin's house, she was so excited and she followed me all around while I was getting things together saying, "I ready a go a Corman's house!"
We drive on an old back road to get to College Station and I like to take in the scenery. I thought it was the picture of small- town-texas as I noted we passed over Bessies Creek, drove by the Slimy Grimy store, and through the town of Nasty Soda. (It's actually Navasota, Dan just likes to call it that)
We spent the morning and afternoon together and Ava and Corbin had a fun time playing together.

And just for old time's sake,
Luke thought the exersaucer was awesome. He got so excited!
Our day was wonderful, made me forget some of my stress. And also reminded me how sad I am that we don't get to hang out all the time like we used to. There's somthing about a good friend that just makes you feel...good! Thanks, Tiffany! I miss you!

Glad you had a fun visit with Tiffany and boys! Got your message last night - thanks for calling to check on me...we are doing well...my back is MUCH better. When are you leaving for your Thanksgiving trip? Maybe we can get together this weekend...
I know what you mean about being a little bit happy about the era infection. I was always so relieved to know that the antibiotics would be working and things would be going back to normal soon. Good luck!
I can't believe those men were like that to you! What jerks!!! I hate politics too. I've never even heard of something like happening. I just can't believe they did this while you're carrying a car seat and holding Ava's hand. You should keep some pepper spray with you and if it happens again, pull it out, tell them that you are feeling very threatened by them and to back off! What morons.
Every once in a awhile, Troy listens to a little too much talk radio - Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, conservative shows. He'll start talking to me about all this global stuff that we need to worry about and I'm like "Dude, I'm concerned with the book report that's due, the lunch money that's owed, the scouting badges and pack meetings, the doctor appointments, the talk in sacrament, the FHE and family prayer, and which boy has their homework and library books due on which days!! And also who got eliminated on Dancing with the Stars and Biggest Loser. THAT is my circle of worry.
Sorry if that seems a little non-involved to others, but that's just me.
Glad you had a good visit with your friend though.
See you soon!
