Watch out world! If you get in my way, I might paint you white. Right along with everything else in this house.
Here is a peek at the kitchen.
Well, first here is the kitchen before we started this whole fiasco and it looks like I forgot to take a real "before". This one is not the best but I think it gives the idea.
Here is the kitchen with the wallpaper covered and the walls painted.
And here is the kitchen with the white cabinets.
The new hardware is in the mail, so that still has to be done, and I think that will help a lot. And the shelf still needs to be hung, which I painted white. I may have picked a creamier wall color had I known that I was going to paint the cabinets from the beginning. But overall I really like it.
And I painted the fireplace white. Kindly look past the chubber in the foreground for the "before",
To the "after"
And I painted this dresser white,
I am sewing 337 (okay maybe just 50) little white ties for the curtains I am making, but don't worry the curtains are not all white.
This place is slowly coming together and I am getting happy. I am sure it will not be to everyone's taste, especially the previous owners of this home, but I am excited. To me it is so much more light and refreshing. And I feel like it is my house.
Something about our last house being brand new, or our first, almost paralyzed me in the decorating department. It was also so open that painting it seemed overwhelming because each wall just ran right into the next.
This time is different though and it's been fun.
Speaking of fun, I have been pleasantly surprised with our running lately. I am actually enjoying it and that is a first. I really have never liked running just for the sake of running before. Put a ball in my hands, give me a baby to chase, a frisbee to catch, but just running to run, it never did anything for me. Lately, though I have actually looked forward to it and it feels good. Sometimes Dan and I can go together and sometimes we go separately. I prefer to go with him but music makes it pretty good too.
I'm still not sure about scurrying under the barbed wire or running through tires, but I'm thinking I might survive the Warrior Dash afterall.
Max is cutting all four molars right now which is a drag except for the fact that he wants to snuggle so much. We spent a good 15 minutes out on the trampoline the other morning with him just laying on my chest. That is good stuff.
We also have been enjoying the most gorgeous spring weather. The kids play outside, jump on the trampoline, we even got out the water table a time or two.
Last night we had dinner on the back porch. These couple of months right around March and April are really Texas' bread and butter.
We did have to bid farewell to our orchid this week.
For our anniversary in December Dan brought this beauty home and I am really, really proud that it lasted this long.
Dan got it to February, when Mimi basically took over it's survival and then it hung on for a few more weeks.
It was good while it lasted. Which is just about all I can ask for!

Ooh, I am so in love with your white cabinets! Your kitchen looks so streamlined and roomy.
Elise! Everything is looking so good! I must come see what you've done in person! I was just stunned when I got to the pic of Ava and Luke playing at the water table. Ava looks like she is about 8. Holy cow. She has sprouted into a long string bean! Jorgie looked at her and said, 'wow, Ava is growing up!'. :) We miss you all...
Your kitchen looks awesome! And who knew you could paint a fireplace? Those are fun projects you've been working on - I'm totally impressed!
I will have to come back and see it all in person. And I was thinking that you need to come here. Bring a kid or two. I need a visit:)
Okay I like the white alot the and if the chubber gets in the way too much you can always send him to me. one thought I had looking at the pictures was that I might paint the back of the high bar and the island an accent color not needed but just a thought. Also after my vast moving experience. Don't get discouraged about the new place not feeling "right" for at least 8 month's. For me that seems to be the magic number. Love ya.
