I woke up early this morning, thinking about how many fun things there were to look forward to-
My birthday present iPhone was scheduled to arrive today.
Max's cast would be removed today.
My sister Chandra arrives on Friday.
My sister Leah arrives on Saturday.
Yes, yes lots of fun things. But I could also tell that something was wrong with my throat.
And then today turned into some crazy goose chase which involved strep throat and two steroid shots in the "hips" (which was more like "butt"), and Max and I showing up for his cast removal in our dirty pajamas at 3 in the afternoon.
The doctor promised that the shots would make me feel better in record time, and she was right! I feel about 50 times better than I did this morning, which is totally worth the pain in my "hips".
The only other time I have been prescribed steroids, I got my only technical foul in basketball for hitting another girl.
So if it is likely we will see each other in the next 10 days, don't cross me.
But today, the star of the show was Max. He was a champ while they sawed off the cast. He was so funny to watch as I set him down and he realized that he could bend his knee. And his ankle. He had gotten completely proficient at walking like a ballerina on point with one leg.
Watching him try to walk again was a little heart wrenching, though. He was hesitant to bear weight and even his crawling is looking funny. But by tonight, he had managed to take a few steps. It will be a little while before he is really going again. Anyways, we are off to a new start and we can't wait to stick that buddy in a nice deep tub.
He is the best.

Oh my word. I just watched Max laughing over and over and over again. I'm so sorry you had to get fun booty shots, but so glad they worked! Have so much fun with your family! Love and miss you...like always.
Elise,
You are a beautiful writer. I just read the post about your parents and your reasoning behind blogging. You're such an amazing woman!
