Steamboat Springs

Once the move became a real thing, most of our summer plans went up in smoke.  All except for our Michigan trip and the one that went up in steam. Lovely, beautiful, refreshing, Steamboat Springs.

We'd already bought my parents' plane tickets and had the hotel reserved and by golly we needed to do something fun, so we picked up Mom and Dad from the airport and headed to the mountains.

And we did fun!

We went river rafting, but I have no pictures.  Jack did scream through the first part but after that it was smooth sailing.

Walmart is like the Mormon church-- it's the same wherever you go...

We walked along the Yampa River and even waded in it's hot (warm) springs.

Colorado never ceases to amaze me.  There are so many places to visit and so many beautiful things to see.

And when your shorts get too wet, sometimes you end up in the hotel elevator in your underwear.

Dan and I visited Fish Creek Falls back in January and figured a summer hike was worth a visit as well.

And a perfect opportunity to keep trying for that elusive family picture.

We rode the gondola to the top of the ski mountain.

My dad is always so happy to have his picture taken.

Luke was actually terrified of this.  Here he is trying to play it cool for the picture.  I think he did a pretty good job of it.

My beautiful people in such a beautiful place.

The combination makes me think of a line from an old favorite song,

"Who could bring me heaven,

when heaven's already here?"
